2009-It's hard to believe it's almost here! Valentine's Day Tutus in store!

Time really does fly doesn't it? I can't imagine that in a few short days it will be yet another new year. My daughters ( and myself) just keep getting older and older. On the flip side, the New Year always comes with the hopes of a better year for everyone so here's to wishing that everyone's dreams come true! My dream for the new year is to have all of our remodeling projects done. I imagine having a husband who builds houses for a living, has a bit to do with the fact our projects are never finished. His new idea-remodeling the basement to accomdate a play room and although there is a shower, sink and toilet down there we must must must rip it all out and start anew so we can have three full baths. Sigh. I know I know I should be thrilled right?! I'd much rather see the kitchen finished as it was started the week we moved in. Something tells me he just really really doesn't want to work on it;)

On the flip side, I'm gearing up for the future holidays-Valentine's Day and so forth in my shop. And I can not WAIT to welcome Spring:) In the meantime, if you need a sweet lil' tutu for some Valentine's Day shots, don't hesitate to stop on by. And remember, custom orders and new ideas are always a favorite!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful start into 2009. Thank you again for helping to make this last year so wonderful.

Merry Christmas Everyone from Trinity's Tutus!!!

The year is winding down, and here in Ohio the weather is cold as expected, as we gear up for our new year! I wanted to thank all of my wonderful customers who have helped make this last year so enjoyable. It has been a pleasure working with you, and getting to know you all. Also, I want to thank all of my "online" friends and especially the ladies from the Cafemom Etsy Street Team who have helped me along the way from day one on. If you shoppers haven't visited the stores of these talented ladies, please don't hesitate to search on etsy under the tag Cafemom Team to see all the fantastic items these wonderufl mommies create. You won't find better sellers anywhere else!

Our presents are all wrapped, and ready for the morning, although my oldest daughter is spending Christmas in New York with her daddy and his family so she had her Christmas with us a bit early:) I hope that everyone has a great Christmas and also has a very happy and safe New Year as well. I look forward to the new year with each and every one of you!

I LOVE my customers

It has been a whirlwind few months since I began selling my tutus on etsy! There were some chaotic moments-say Halloween Time-but everything worked out in the end. I must say I LOVE my customers! There are quite a few customers I stay in pretty regular contact with and I think it's fabulous. Interacting with each customer is important to me and what helps set handmade products apart. I enjoy getting to know bits and pieces about each customer and I must say receiving photographs from them is such a wonderful part of my day. I'd love to share them all, but that would take quite some time but I am including in this blog post a picture of adorable Alyssa that her mommy sent to me. It's fantastic to see such sweet princesses each day and reminds me why I enjoy making my products so much.

On the flip side, thanks to Ohio's wishy washy weather, illness has loomed over our house for the passed month. One day it was cold, the next hot-and if you've never been to Ohio, I advise if you do come to visit the buckeye state to pack for any weather and temperature as it seems to change on the drop of a dime! Due to the crazy fluctuation that always occurs going into fall here, germs just incubated and went wild and I think everyone I know has been ill at some point this last month. I have one daughter in fifth grade, and my youngest is in daycare so needless to say, they were prime targets to pick up the germies and bring them home. Since Mid October Caitlin has had tonsillitis, and yesterday was diagnosed with strep/mono. And Trinity had a bout of tonsillitis and pneumonia. Yikes. I think the doctors are tired of seeing me. So, for Cait's follow up I will be discussing the option of getting those tonsils removed for good! She isn't pleased that I intend on ruining the tail end of her christmas break with surgery but mom knows best right?! At least she gets to spend Christmas in Southern California with her daddy, soaking up the sun while we are stuck in wishy washy Ohio:)

Also, the drawing for one free Jingle Bell Rock Tutu will be ending soon! I'm super excited and pleased with the outcome thusfar and can not wait to see who the winner will be. Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to enter.

Spotlight on Williamson Photography

For all you local bloggers here in Ohio, check out Williamson Photography in Bolivar, OH for your location photography needs. Williamson Photography is a location shoot photographer service that will be sure to capture the sweetest little baby portraits, Senior pictures, Family portraits, and Wedding day portraits. Their prices are fantastic and Brandi is a pleasure to work with.

Trinity had a shoot with her in October and I was really apprehensive about ever getting good shots of Trin again. She is a moving target and very easily upset when a camera is around. She doesn't enjoy being told what to do so in studio shoots were out of the question for the time being. I came across Williamson Photography and I wondered how an outdoor shoot would be. Although Trinity wouldn't smile-that is her normal attitude for the camera, Brandi captured natural pictures of my little two year old tornadoe the way that I know her best! It was a wonderful experience and I recommend Williamson Photography to ANYONE. You'll be surprised how much you enjoy a location shoot in comparison to a posed studio shoot.

Please check out her site for information on her services. She has an array of specials and also programs to photographer your baby from birth up, making capturing all those baby memories for you because let's face it, those feet are only little for so long!

Tinkerbell Pixie Tutu and Fairy Dust Wand set

I LOVE tinkerbell, I realize that this obsession isn't completely healthy being a 30 year old mommy but she is just irresistable to me. On my last trip to Disney-about a year ago-one afternoon it began to rain while we were at one of the parks. That gave me the sad excuse to run into the nearest store and purchase this extremely loud, decked out in pink rhinestones Tink track jacket to keep warm. I thought I was pulling it off rather well until a great grandma of five approached me wearing the same jacket, giving me a compliment and a wink. I almost had an early mid life crisis but then rather enjoyed my chat with her and realized young and old, Tinkerbell has captured so many of our hearts. So in the spirit of her new movie-which it's ABOUT TIME DISNEY-I am selling this pixie cut Tinkerbell tutu and child safe Fairy dust wand set in my store. Mention this blog and receive a free gift with your order!!

Ok ok so Halloween 2008 is over in Ohio...

But I couldn't resist posting some pics of our trick or treat night. I was totally thrilled it was so WARM this year. Usually trick or treat in Ohio is pretty miserable-cold, damp, and often raining. We already had some light snow flakes fall SO I was a bit worried about how today would play out. I received the go ahead from Trinity's doctor to take her trick or treating tonight, coming off the tail end of her pneumonia and the great weather made me less nervous. Caitlin, as always was ready to go-of course when she was done putting on her makeup *rolls eyes*. She was a punk pirate against her will. We looked at costumes for WEEKS and she couldn't make up her mind so I took it upon myself to order what I wanted for her. I told her I was getting the same for her sister and she got upset, so Trin became a mouse because that is my nickname for her. Naturally after I ordered the mouse get up, Caitlin was upset I didn't get her sister the matching costume-one can never win with a pre-preteenager:)

Trinity was bothered by her hood which I planned on happening but we zipped off with her in the stroller and she soon forgot it was on. The first house was confusing for her and by time we got to the second house she was mad, in the stroller, out of the stroller, to walk or be pushed, she was so torn. BUT we made it to the third house without a major blowout and soon she realized that if she goes to a strangers house, looks cute, they give her sugar and off she goes to repeat the task. We only stayed out for an hour because quite frankly, they won't eat the candy they got, well at least not all of it that is but all in all we had a good time-saw lots of adorable kiddos and some friends and our neighbors. So enjoy the pictures from our night and also the customer appreciation photos have already begun to roll in from my Halloween orders so i'm thrilled to see all those cute little gals all puffed out
Sucker in one hand, chips in the other!

Argh!!!
AND from some of my customers:First we have the new titled Baby Queen at her pageant CONGRATS on the win!! Such a dollface

And next the cutest little peacock I EVER saw-her mommy is SO creative with her costume I just adore it!

And last there is little miss plum, her mommy added on a beautiful gerber daisy, all these cute kiddos make me smile!

How to roast pumpkin seeds

For all of you doing your last minute carving, here are instructions on how to roast those pumpkin seeds! Wishing you all a Happy Halloween!!!!

Roasted pumpkin seeds have a nutty flavor and are packed with protein and fiber. Pumpkin seeds are delicious toasted and salted, but they're even better flavored with sweet and savory spices.
How to Roast Pumpkin Seeds
Rinse pumpkin seeds under cold water and pick out the pulp and strings. (This is easiest just after you've removed the seeds from the pumpkin, before the pulp has dried.)
Place the pumpkin seeds in a single layer on an oiled baking sheet, stirring to coat. If you prefer, omit the oil and coat with non-stick cooking spray.
Sprinkle with salt and bake at 325 degrees F until toasted, about 25 minutes, checking and stirring after 10 minutes.
Let cool and store in an air-tight container.
Why Carve Pumpkins?
The story of the Jack o'Lantern comes from Irish folklore. Jack was a crafty farmer who tricked the Devil into climbing a tall tree. When the Devil reached the highest branch, Jack carved a large cross in the trunk, making it impossible for the Devil to climb down. In exchange for help getting out of the tree, the Devil promised never to tempt Jack with evil again. When Jack died, he was turned away from Heaven for his sins and turned away from Hell because of his trickery. Condemned to wander the Earth without rest, Jack carved out one of his turnips, took an ember from the devil, and used it for a lantern to light his way. He became known as "Jack of the Lantern."

Go start your Christmas shopping in your pj's!

So Halloween isn't quite here yet, but we all know that Christmas comes so quick after all the ghosts and gouls retire for the year. Why wait until the last moment to shop for your loved ones?! On a recent trip to the local mall I was trying to come up with ideas for my friends and family for gify giving. I realized how tired I've grown of the usual selection of items, knowing my friends would be less thrilled to receive housewares from me so I naturally turned to Etsy to start collecting ideas. There is such a wonderful selection of items that are unique and wonderfully crafted by talented artists. My suggestion is to do a search by typing cafemom team into http://www.etsy.com/ to find great products from some of the best women on Etsy.

Gearing up for Christmas OH SO SLOWLY

I am still unburrying myself from Halloween orders-so it is time to turn to Christmas. I know I know don't rush it right!? I imagine being a mom makes time fly fast when the holiday is on the horizon as the wish list start growing and growing and plans are being made with family and friends. I ADORE the holiday season! I love the snow, decorations, get togethers, everything about the coming time of year. I look forward to the smile on my children's face and the smiles we try to create by purchasing toys for children and supplying food and cookies to our homeless shelter on our Christmas eve tradition. As I work on my last few ladybugs and bees I am finally getting a couple Christmas items out one by one. So far I have my Sweet Santa Baby Tutu Dress and my Candy Cane Swirl Tutu and a Faux Fur Stole custom made for any holiday piece. I have a ton more ideas that will soon be coming to life in the coming weeks.

Such a busy time of year!

Fall is in the air FINALLY! It has been a favorite season of mine for quite some time. This year it is super busy for me, pumping out Halloween tutus for all those little princesses. It's been a lot of fun AND very exhausting! I wouldn't have it any other way though. Due to working on Halloween orders I haven't had the time to design much new just yet but as soon as this month is over, my christmas designs will be hitting the store and I am SUPER exicted! Here are a few shots taken recently.

The sweet little bumble bee is courtesy from the owner/designer of http://www.knottybabwear.com/

Her store has so many adorable items in it I could go on and on but I will admit I am addicted to her knotty legs! Check out her store for a HUGE selection of leggings for your little one!!

My "Baby" had her first day at school

Sigh, today was the first day Trinity went to daycare/school. I wasn't so much nervous about how she'd behave or handle it, I was more concerned about her napping. She has only slept in her crib and there they have toddler cots all in the "sleep" room. I couldn't help but worry how in the world they'd get her to sleep in a room with other children on an unconfined bed!
Dad dropped Trinity off late morning...and she ran right in and never looked back. She was greeted by anxious members of her new junior toddler class and was in pure delight to see them as well as all the toys. Daddy picked her up around 5pm and he called out her name and she came running arms open screaming dadadada. When he walked into the room, he naturally spotted our monkey climbing the foam stairs...up and down up and down. Her report for the day said she did great. She played well with the other children, never cried, slept for nearly two hours, ate most of her lunch and all of her snack and her activities included playdoh and puzzles. Whew, what a worry off my shoulders. I was weighing the pros and cons yesterday, feeling like I failed her as a mommy by putting her in daycare a few days a week. As it turns out, I see this just may be the environment she needs to thrive more. She is a very high strung ball of energy and at home she's grown bored. She pushes the limits here because she knows she can. Her toys are old hat, no matter how often we buy new or rotate them in and out and her day here is filled with terrorizing at all costs. She's a rotten one. I think daycare will help the transition to prek and it just may help fix some problems here at home too! She was so exhausted she went to bed early. She never got rowdy or out of control and didn't throw one trantrum all evening. All the while when she was at school, mommy got some much needed time to work on her tutu orders so it was a win win situation. I was able to take time out of "work" this evening to be with my family AND I took a LONG HOT shower this afternoon just because I could. It has been nearly two years since that happened. I ALMOST snuck in a nap too until the phone rang. So far, so good...we'll see how next week goes!

Sock Monkeys and leg warmers

In case you haven't heared of the following etsians yet, you REALLY should. Two of my FAVORITE stores had matching material so how on earth could I resist making a tutu to match? Totally impossible! First, there is Elegant Hobbies. Now, I used to never put a thought into sock monkeys. I imagine I was envisioning monkeys of the past, although cute, they were not very girly. With two daughters who LOVE stuffed goodies, I was delighted to see how adorable her items were AND being a fellow Cafemom Etsy team member I HAD to buy one for Trinity. Check out her store at http://eleganthobbies.etsy.com/, I promise you won't be disappointed.

And secondly comes Knotty Baby Wear...Oh my gosh the selection here is UNBEATABLE, so so so many things to chose from. The little crocheted cowboy booties get me every time. Now if I could just shrink Trinity's BIG feet to fit in a pair hmmm. Realizing my youngest will just continue to grow like my oldest child Caitlin, I guess I will stick with my growing addiction to Knotty Legwarmers. Fall is coming and my squirmy worm is difficult enough to change so these legwarmers will be so much more easy than tights..and when I can no longer put off trying to tackle tights and the Trinster, these leggings will look SO adorable and make her the coolest toddler on the block..and here is the best kept secret (okay so it's no secret really) FREE SHIPPING on knotty legwarmers. Spin by her shop, you'll fall in love http://knottybabywear.etsy.com

Both of these ladies are fantastico to order from, which makes the Etsy experience that much better!!

Super Hero Cape

Trinity was playing in her sisters room (sssshhh... don't tell Caitlin) and she found her boo. Well, she thought it was her boo. Boo is her ghostie friend that Grandma and sissy made her at Build a Bear. The name boo merely comes from the fact that it is indeed a name Trinity can say. This Boo she found was identical to her boo but she was baffled how Boo had a mask and a cape? She was clueless that sissy had a ghostie too but it was dressed up for Halloween. Trinity, being the demanding child she is, insisted sissy's Boo better share that mask so she ripped it off and screamed until mommy put it on her. The mask was way too small, but I laughed and laughed as she walked around the room so proud of herself. Dad realized that his little girl would be one of "those" kids who wore super hero outfits in public. Then, it hit me! Trinity needs her own cape and mask. She LOVES running around with a towel over her shoulders, wrapped snug around her neck. How perfect would it be for her to be Super Trinity! I personally have no sewing abilities so naturally I turned to Etsy. It didn't take me long to find this wonderful cape that could be customized, YES customized to your liking. I got to chose the color of the cape, the emblem and color of the emblem-I chose the crown and also an initial and the color for that as well. So I ordered hers in black and pink to match her birthday theme and HAD to get a matching mask. I anxiously await the arrival of her goodies and my new favorite etsy find of the week. Check out the store at http://babypop.etsy.com/

Hyped up on coffee

The orders keep pouring in ( which is a good thing) and it's keeping me going all hours of the night. I've found a new love for coffee....which I typically hate, but came to find out NEED in order to work until 1-2am. I am astounded at how busy i've become and feel guilty for things I don't get around to anymore such as...housework....my friends....little things with my kids. I never dreamed something so small could turn into something so big in one month. Usually I am so bored that if I have a getaway or vacation coming up it's all I cna think about. Now I'm looking at the date going CRAP I have to leave in a couple of days...two nights left to work on pieces! It's like i've gone mad ha! I am totally looking forward to time with my best friends but dreading coming back to the wordload ahead of me.

So much to do so little time

It has been one chaotic month in our household and my shop but I think we've finally adjusted to the changes that have been taking place. I began my shop on Etsy a month ago and it took off like a bottle rocket so we all scattered to ensure I could hold up to what I promise my customers in terms of service and items. My shop was built in the basement with custom cutting tables and work space, ample storage space and all types of nice touches to help me stay organized. It has truly cut back on time it took to make each piece as now I have everything at hand. To prevent boredom and loneliness I have the companionship of the television and the computer so that I can stay in contact with my customers while I am working.

Last week I was also approved to sell on http://www.lollishops.com/ a new venue due to open late fall so that will be fun to try something new.

LolliShops is a juried, online selling venue for talented artists, collectors of vintage and art supply vendors. LolliShops will appeal to those who love...
Elegant Whimsy
Romantic Inspirations
Fanciful Creations
... artists will enjoy setting up their own, customizable store fronts while LolliShops patrons enjoy feeling like a kid in a Candy Store!

My tutus and dresses are now being sold in six boutiques across the United States and are being used by several photographers. My favorite being Melissa Jones Photography in Columbus Ohio. She takes beautiful pictures, I could get lost in them for days!

We've also been busy busy with the garden and preparing our veggies for the winter which is always an exhausting venture. It seems most nights we are up until 2am getting work done but it helps us sleep deeply at night!

Caitlin is back in school, fifth grade this year and is already dreading going each morning, I sense a long year in the making.

Trinity is a monkey, climbing everything! We can not keep her off of or out of anything anymore so it's toddler chaos all day long. I wish I had her energy!

I'm looking forward to the weekend as my best friends and I are heading to Pittsburgh to enjoy the long weekend. We plan on doing some shopping at the Strip outdoor mall, a couple of other malls, and then hitting up the zoo on Monday. Kim, Marieta and I have all been working super hard this month so a break is in order! I've been told, no tulle allowed, so I'm not sure how I can handle not making a tutu for a few days. We'll see how that goes!
